About Us

The Beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Omega has been at Appalachian State University since the Fall of 1999. For 18 years, we have seen the Lord grow our sisterhood into a family of talented, beautiful, God-seeking, and Christ-like sisters. We are so blessed with this sisterhood and the gift of fellowship that we are able to participate in each day. The Lord has led each of us to this sorority in a different way and we trust that He will continue to lead other sisters in Christ to us in a way that glorifies Him.

We hold ourselves to the standard that God has clearly illustrated in His scripture.  When we wear our letters, we are not only representing our sorority and university, but also the Kingdom of Heaven. We continually work towards becoming more like Him and being an example of His love to the other students on our campus. Proof of following Him is having the fruits of the spirit and we encourage all sisters to spend time in scripture in order to grow in these areas.

We meet weekly on Monday evenings at Appalachian State University. Each sister is a member of an internal committee that is led by the respective chair. Our executive board oversees all sorority operations and serves as the leadership for the whole chapter. Each chair manages the operations that fall under their jurisdiction as laid out in our sorority and chapter by-laws. Each sister plays an important part in the projects and events hosted by our sorority and we value each and every one of them.
